I’ve always loved paper. When I was little, I was fascinated by how a pencil, when you drag it across paper, makes a mark. I love to bury my nose in a book and smell its unique scent. But increasingly, my time and my classmates’ time is spent on a keyboard and screen.

Being at a small school means that every new student is extremely newsworthy. When three new students arrive, everybody wonders who they are, what they’re like, and what they think about our school. This year, we have three new students in the high school: Gerald Wilson, Calder Green, and Morgan Clark.

Are you having trouble finding something to read? We've all been there, and we all hate it. My goal is to make your life easier and pick a book for you! I have compiled six reviews of some favorites, all different genres so you'll be sure to find one that you're interested in. Hopefully reading ABOUT books will get you excited to read one.

Welcome to the INSIDE THE HOUSE OF TROY, our periodic podcast, hosted by Nate Kissingford. Today, a conversation with Phylis Fagrelius, middle school social studies teacher, who plans to retire in May after a quarter century here at Ouray School.

Among several new electives, an outdoor education program, a chance for students to get out and experience the great outdoors of Colorado, was reintroduced to the Ouray High School this fall. The course is “an institution that [former science teacher] Eric Fagrelius created around 15 years ago,” said outdoor education teacher Jimmy Chiang.

The summer of 2021 was a big summer for the entire world. Travel had started to open up and people were able to have summer vacation again, finally. I looked forward to my own summer trip with my dad starting early August. A 2900 mile motorcycle trip at 16 years old.

This year, Ouray Elementary School welcomes a new third grade teacher, Mr. George Hunt. Elementary principal Kenneth Nelson said that “Mr. Hunt is relationship-focused and has a wonderful relationship with kids,” and that he is very knowledgeable with DIBELS, the OES literacy assessment program.
