Traveling never used to interest me very much. Of course I wanted to see other cultures and places, but traveling never was on the top of any list for me. Until now.

Mariana Marinho Dos Santos grew up in Brazil before moving to New Jersey in 2016 and, subsequently, Ouray in 2020. “When I moved to New Jersey, I didn’t know a word in English,” she reflected. “It was a struggle. Basically, I had nobody to help me. I was by myself.” But she persevered, mastering the new language by freshman year and moving to Ouray as a sophomore.

Riley Ross, son of Brandy and Bob and younger brother of Jacksen, will miss the wilderness of Ouray. He enjoys the climbing, biking and exploring he has grown up with. He also enjoys tropical fruits, the book Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, rock music and 70s soul, and Iceland.

Students at Ouray School work in a wide variety of jobs, and their experiences help, according to how positive an environment their job creates. The better the environment, the better the job. At Riverside RV Park employees seem to love their jobs and strive to do good.

Many Ouray students feel cooped up in school from day to day, and their answer to that feeling, often, is Motorsports. A lot of students spend a lot of time in class dreaming about zooming into the back country on the weekend, on two or four wheels.

The Ouray Brewery is staffed by many Ouray students, who find it an exciting place to work, and appreciate the great people they work with. The Ouray Brewery could be considered one of the busiest and most successful restaurants in Ouray Colorado.

Adrenaline races throughout my body as I sprint across the floor. I should be tired, but the excitement makes the fatigue dull. Anticipation stuffs the room. Squeaks fly across the floor. An object lands in my hands. The basketball. Everything blurs and instinct takes over. Before I know it I reach the other side of the gym and a shot goes flying. I hold my breath. The shot sinks.

River Rose Manley was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Ouray on Halloween in 2009. In five words, she describes herself as “Talkative, organized, slightly annoying, adventurous, and protective.” Her life philosophy is, “Everything happens for a reason;” she finds it important to “be happy but also not be afraid to be sad;” and she finds joy in “seeing other people happy, and seeing people who deserve it succeed.”
