Here is a list, in no particular order, of all the things I don’t like about journalism:

I got a call last night from my friend freshman Oliver Colaw. At the time I was eating a bowl of leftovers while watching some highlights of Jimmy Butler laying waste to the Celtics’ hopes of getting to the finals. I answer the call: “Hey.”

Over three Thursdays in April and May, high school students read books with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders for a half hour per session. I was paired up with Calvin, a 3rd-grader whose book of choice was Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I learned a lot about Calvin, who likes to read and has an older brother.

Every high schooler was in agreement that it had been a long week. But it turns out that this kind of week provides unexpected delights. What I’m saying is that on Thursday, May 11, there was a snowball fight through the high school hallways.

As the Ouray School calendar winds down, students have their summer plans foremost in mind. Traveling, working, sports, and hanging out are the sought-after activities that students are looking forward to.

Morgan Joan Clark was born in Middletown, Connecticut and, after going to Ridgway school for 5 ½ years, has attended Ouray for the last 2 ½. Morgan loves fried rice and everything bagels with cream cheese, and she hates seafood: “Here's my thing,” she quipped: “Seafood can die. Which doesn’t make any sense because it’s already dead.”

Pallen (Pal) McArdle is one of the original members of the class of 2023, attending Ouray School since kindergarten. She said that it has been “very comforting to have this community of people I’ve known forever that I can always talk to,” but now she has set her sights on the wide world.

If you were to look in the hallway during a passing period, your eye might immediately be drawn to a figure in a furry red coat and tall sea-foam green heels working the hall as if it were a runway. This figure would be none other than Nate Kissingford, whose life is their stage.

“He’s pulled over to the side of the road to pick me up on my walks home,” said senior Cason Coats, grateful for Clifford Utech’s benevolence. “I never even ask for him to do it.”

I’m going to propose a new invention: Google Translate but for misleading social sayings. Go on, try it out. In the drop-down menu, scroll down until you can select the “Twisted Social Language” button - it will likely be between Turkmen and Ukrainian - and then in the second menu select plain English (or your language of preference). Type into that box the following: “Let’s get coffee.”
