Four Plays in Three Days

In the seats to my right six high school students lean forward, eyes glued on the emotional scene. To my left, I see the same thing. The whole audience is rapt in this shared experience.

Spring Poems

The creative writing class took a walk today in the brisk April sunshine, and then composed these poems. Enjoy!

Drama Club Performs: Love and Marriage, Playfully

The High School Drama Club performed two one-act plays over the weekend of February 25th: “A Marriage Proposal” by Anton Chekhov, and “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell. The process of performing and putting the show together seemed to delight the actors, crew, and audience.

A Middle School Reflection on Weehawken Dance

Weehawken dance has been around for about 14 years. Some time ago Weehawken’s performances took place in the Ouray Wright Opera House; however, now they take place in the Montrose Pavilion. Many students participate in Weehawken dance, not just from Ouray but also from Ridgway, Silverton, Montrose, and Delta.

Poems After a Snowstorm

The creative writing class is at it again: a walk in new snow, and then a little bit of poetry writing. We hope you enjoy.

Two Plays on Love and Marriage

Well, with Valentine’s Day behind us, perhaps we’re ready to take a rather darker look at love and marriage… what do you say?

Ouray High School Drama Club will present two one-act plays this weekend, a melodramatic high-spirited comedy and a dramatic murder mystery, both of which look under the surface of romantic relationships.

Winter Haiku

Ouray High School Creative Writing is back as an elective after a six-year hiatus. One January afternoon, they took a walk in the crisp air and composed these haiku from their observations.

Chloe's Corner for Reading Recommendations #2

Are you having trouble finding something to read? We've all been there, and we all hate it. My goal is to make your life easier and pick a book for you! I have compiled five more reviews of some favorites, all different genres so you'll be sure to find one that you're interested in. Hopefully reading ABOUT books will get you excited to read one.

Performing Arts Takes the Stage

The pandemic took away a lot of things from people all over the world. For Ouray School, many yearly events were canceled without any known reschedule dates. What many thought would just be weeks until the reschedule turned into two years. After careful consideration, and many precautions in place, Ouray School performances are back! Masks were a requirement to watch the performances.
