You may have recently heard of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, but there is much more to it than simply not saying the word “gay.” High school students who are in opposition to this law and bills like it are discussing ways to take action at the recently established LGBTQ+ education club: For Your Queer Information (FYQI).

Ouray High School students studying French will finally travel on the annual spring Paris trip, two years delayed due to COVID, from April 19-28. There are many emotions surrounding this trip: nervousness, fear, and excitement.

The High School Drama Club performed two one-act plays over the weekend of February 25th: “A Marriage Proposal” by Anton Chekhov, and “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell. The process of performing and putting the show together seemed to delight the actors, crew, and audience.

Ouray School Band Concerts have always been an activity that everyone was thrilled to go to. Seeing kids or grandkids perform is something everyone enjoys. But Covid surges, over the past couple of years have disrupted high school and middle school band concerts.
On top of Covid restrictions, Michael Scott moving from Ouray to Ridgway Schools as the band director had an impact on students’ relationship with picking up an instrument and sticking with it. Mr. Scott was a beloved figure within Ouray School as a teacher and someone to relate to and have a laugh with. His departure threatened the connection between students and band.
