SENIOR PROFILE: Charlie Tyler

by Rock Gibbs

Charlie Tyler, son of Linda and Tom and younger brother of Sam and Logan, says that his parents have had the biggest influence in his life. He admires them because, as he states, “they always go out of their way to help others” and it inspires him to do the same.

He takes full advantage of the fact that Ouray is one of the best places in the world for outdoor activities, enjoys every moment. He loves to OneWheel, mountain bike, hike, snowboard, and have good times with friends. Over the winter Charlie, with Sam and his friends, constructs jump lines through the Thistledown campground and spends hours perfecting his jumps and his descent through the course. When summer comes Charlie spends as much time as he can outside, usually biking either under his own power or that of his dirtbike.

His laid-back persona leads many to make the mistake of underestimating him, yet his enthusiasm for life is lying just below the surface. A scholar and an athlete, his passion for basketball and knowledge show the dedication to success that  makes Charlie Tyler who he is. One of the top scholars in his class, Charlie has always strived to be the best at what he does, partially fueled by an intense competitive streak. Whether it be on the court, in the classroom, or out in the world, Charlie never leaves anything half-done. This attitude leads to success in whatever he attempts.

Charlie plans to attend CSU in the fall and intends to pursue a major in finance. His classmates are sure he will achieve his goals, because, as Hayden Hart said, “Charlie is an avid do-er of things. He’s always on the move, always looking for the next fun thing to do, and always working hard. You can count on him to get the job done and have fun doing it.”
