Rock Gibbs has been a part of this group of seniors since pre-school, and counts “listening to ‘We Are the Champions’ after winning the state championship in Knowledge Bowl” among his favorite memories.
He is grateful to his family - Mike, Joanie, Audrey, and Mackenzie Gibbs - who have supported him throughout his life. Being the youngest, Rock was able to follow in the footsteps of his older sisters by running cross country and playing basketball. Rock has represented the high school in cross country, track and field, knowledge bowl, FBLA, and basketball. In the future Rock plans to attend the University of New England, majoring in marine biology.
Some of Rock's favorite things to do outside of school are skiing, hiking, mountain biking, one wheeling, and reading. In fact when asked about his most sublime moment, he said that it was “cruising down Main Street watching the sunrise on the one wheel.” He also would like it known that his favorite book to read is The Wise Man's Fear: A Story About Failures by Patrick Rothfuss.
“He is the life of the party,” said River Manley. Always one to crack a joke, Rock is known in class for his quick wit, but don't get him wrong: one of his biggest pet peeves is “people being rude or mocking when something is important.”
He says that his mom has had the biggest influence on his life. He looks to her and is inspired by her kindness and positivity in life. This influence shines through in his own relationships at school. Mrs James described him as “incredibly charismatic, very articulate, and he cares deeply about things.” Senior Kaden Nelson described Rock as being his “best friend since fifth grade, and I appreciate him putting up with me for so long. He is a pretty great guy”.
Rock has marked his classmates’ lives with his positive attitude, wise-cracked jokes, and huge heart.
